When you are making idli, dosa or uttapa you need to make different kinds of chutney or sambhar to make it more interesting to eat. This is one of the chutney which I made for breakfast. The dhaniya and the jeera gives a nice taste and aroma to the chutney.
Ingredients
- 1 big tomato
- 3-4 dried red chillies
- 1 garlic pod
- 1/3 cup roasted peanuts
- 1/2 spoon dhaniya seeds
- 2 pinches jeera
- 4-5 curry leaves
- Hing
- Turmeric
- Salt
- Oil
Tempering
- Oil
- Jeera
- Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- Urad dal
- Chana dal
Process->In a non-stick skillet add 2 spoons oil. As the oil gets heated add jeera, dhaniya seeds, curry leaves, hing, garlic pod, red chilies, turmeric and saute it. Finally add the tomato and sprinkle salt. Turn off the flame once the tomato has cooked pulpy. Cool the tomato and blend it with the peanuts to make a smooth puree. Add 1/4 cup water if necessary. You can add tadka on the chutney.
