Drumstick dal

Was feeling bad that our long vacation has got over and too much of over eating during the vacation wanted to make something simple and quick and go to bed early. Dal rice with little ghee on top is the best option that we all finalized. Dal rice is one universal dish which is made all over India in any restaurants or household and popular among the children.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup toor dal
  • Drumsticks
  • 3/4 medium tomato diced
  • 2 green chillies
  • 3 garlic pods
  • Jeera
  • Mustard
  • Salt
  • Curry leaves
  • Hing
  • Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Oil
  • Corriander leaves
  • Water
Process->Wash the toor dal and cook it with drumsticks, tomatoes, turmeric and hing in the pressure cooker giving it 3 whistles. Once the dal has cooked soft remove the drumsticks from the dal and beat the dal. This avoids the drumstick from breaking. Take oil in a small non stick pan as the oil gets heated add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves and hing and let it splutter. As it starts spluttering add green chillies and garlic pods and saute golden brown. Add the tomatoes and corriander and cook it tender. Once the tomatoes cook pulpy add the dal and the drumsticks. Adjust the taste of salt and sugar. Let it boil. Enjoy it with chapati or rice.

Note->Add water to the dal as per your requirement thick or slight liquidy.
