Tomato Saar

Tomato saar is very popular soup in Maharashtrian weddings and other occassions. You can enjoy tomato saar with masale bhaath or pulao or simply sip it. It's ready in a jiffy and does not require too much of prior preparation. The rich red color of tomato and the ghee tadka give the saar a appealing look and taste.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 garlic pod
  • 1 spoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 spoon dhaniya seeds
  • 3 pinches jeera
  • 1 spoon grated coconut
  • Red chilli powder
  • Salt
  • Sugar 
  • Hing
  • Turmeric
  • Ghee
  • Curry leaves
  • Corriander leaves
Process->In a pressure add chopped tomatoes, ginger, garlic, dhaniya seeds, jeera and turmeric. The tomatoes will cook in 2 whistles. Make a fine paste of the tomato and spices. In sauce pan add little ghee and heat it on a low flame. In that add curry leaves, hing and red chilli powder. Pour the tomato puree, salt, sugar and 2 cups of water and boil it. Switch of the gas once it boils. Garnish it with corriander leaves. Serve it piping hot.


Note->Its your choice whether to add ginger and garlic.
