Green Moong Dal

Sprouts are a good source of protein intake and is easy to digest. Green moong is a simple dal which can be enjoyed with rice or chapati. As it has no garam masala or red chilli powder it is very satvik and so even small children can eat it. If you have some guests coming over you can serve this moong dal with jeera rice.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup green moong
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 small onion
  • Sliced green chillies
  • 1 spoon grated ginger
  • Curry leaves
  • Jeera
  • Mustard seeds
  • Hing
  • Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Corriander leaves
Process->Soak the green moong dal for 5-6 hrs and pressure cook giving it 2-3 whistles. In sauce pan take 2 spoons oil. As the oil gets heated add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves, hing, green chillies, turmeric, onion and ginger. Toss it for 2-3 minutes. Next add the tomatoes and cook on a medium flame till they become pulpy. Finally add the green moong dal and water as per required consistency and boil it. Turn off the flame after one boil. Sprinkle some corriander leaves. 

Note->You can subsitute green chillies with red chilli powder and chole masala.
