Urad Dal Amti

Uradachi amti is common dal in Maharashtra. You need to use split urad dal for this dal. My brother and me are very fond of this amti so may mom would often make it for us. The same trend continues in my house also. Serve this amti with chapati, bhakri or rice. Instead of making toor dal or moong dal everyday you can make this urad dal amti and your family members definitely praise you. 

  • 1/4 cup split urad dal
  • 1 spoon chana dal
  • 2 sliced green chillies
  • 3 garlic pods grated
  • 1 spoon grated ginger
  • 1 spoon grated coconut
  • Curry leaves
  • 1/2 spoon dhaniya jeera powder
  • Jeera
  • Turmeric
  • Hing
  • Salt
  • Corriander leaves
Process->Wash both the dals and add water and pressure cook giving it 2-3 whistles. Smash the dal once it has cooked. In a hot sauce pan pour oil and add curry leaves, jeera, hing, turmeric, garlic, ginger, green chillies, dhaniya jeera powder and saute for 1-2 minutes. Pour the dal in the tadka and add water and salt. Once the amti starts boiling add the grated coconut and corriander leaves and turn off the flame.
