Methi Moong Dal

It is methi week at my household and this is one of the variations which I made today for dinner. In villages methi chi bhaaji, bhakri and peanut chutney is a very common and popular meal option in many households. The moong dal gives a little crunch to the well cooked methi.

Ingredients
  • 5 cups methi leaves
  • 2 spoon moong dal
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 4 garlic pods
  • Salt
  • Oil

Process->Clean the methi leaves and wash it thoroughly under running water. Soak the moong dal in water for 15-20 minutes. Add 2 spoons oil to a heated pan. In that add green chillies and crushed garlic and saute it. Next add onion and toss it 1-2 minutes. Finally add the methi leaves and moong dal. Adjust the salt as per taste and cook the methi. The methi will start leaving water. Place a lid on the pan cook it for 10 minutes. Once the moong dal is slightly tender increase the flame and keep sauteing it every couple of minutes and till the water evaporates. Drizzle little oil and saute it 1-2 minutes and turn off the flame.
