Simple Kadhi

With the onset of summer in Florida you crave for juices, fresh fruits, yogurt, buttermilk, nimbu paani, lassi etc to name a few. You can make kadhi for meals and enjoy it with rice or chapati than the regular dals. Sip the kadhi when it is piping hot or serve it with khichdi and papad. Small children also relish on kadhi because of its sweet and sour taste. 

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sour yogurt
  • 2 1/2 cups water 
  • 1 spoon gram flour
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1-2 garlic pods
  • 1"ginger piece
  • 1 spoon grated coconut
  • 2 pinches jeera
  • 1/2 spoon dhaniya seeds
  • Turmeric
  • Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Hing
  • Oil 
  • Salt 
  • Sugar
  • Corriander leaves
Process->Beat the yogurt, gram flour, salt, sugar and water together. Grind garlic, ginger, coconut, green chillies, dhaniya seeds and jeera in the blender to make a paste. In a sauce pan add ghee or oil for tadka. Once the oil heats in that add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, turmeric and the masala paste. Fry the masala paste in the tadka till it is well cooked. Pour the butter milk mixture in the tadka and it let boil for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle it with corriander leaves. 

Note->You can add gram flour fritters in the kadhi.
