Cauliflower Batata Rassa

In marathi for a gravy curry we call it rassa. There are different types and ways of making rassa. Generally we have heard of pandhra rassa and tambda rassa. For rassa bhakri or rice with lemon and onion on the side is the perfect accompaniment. I have used cauliflower and potato to make a rassa. You can use this recipe to make veg or non veg rassa. 

Ingredients
  • 1 cup florets
  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 medium onion 
  • 3/4 cup tomato 
  • 3 dried red chillies
  • 2 spoon dried coconut
  • 1 spoon dhaniya seeds
  • 1 pinch jeera
  • 1 spoon sesame seeds
  • Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 spoon garam masala
  • Salt
  • Turmeric
  • Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Corriander leaves
Process->Take 1 spoon oil a pan. In that add jeera, dhaniya seeds, til, coconut and red chillies. Roast on a slow flame till it is golden brown. Add the roasted masala and tomato in the blender and make a smooth paste. In a sauce pan add 3 spoons oil. Add curry leaves, hing and onion. Toss it for 2-3 minutes till it is tender. Next add the masala paste, turmeric, red chilli powder and garam masala. Saute it the masala starts oozing oil from the sides. Toss the cauliflower and potato in the masala. Pour 1 1/2 cup of water and adjust the taste of salt and cook the vegetables. Garnish it with corriander leaves and serve hot.
