I am telling you about a delicious recipe of khatti meethi dal or
sweet & sour dal.This dal goes very well with rice or
chapati.You can use mix dals or just toor dal it’s up to your choice. The right
quantity of tamarind and jaggery is what enhances the taste of the dal. Drizzle
some ghee on the dal rice and enjoy it eating hot.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup toor dal
- 1 small round
tamarind
- Jaggery small
round
- Jeera
- Mustard
- 3 cloves garlic
- Curry leaves
- Turmeric
- Red chilli
powder
- Salt
- 1/4 spoon
dhaniya jeera powder
- Oil
- Corriander
leaves
Process->Wash and soak the dal in water for 30 minutes. Add some hing
and turmeric and cook the dal in the pressure cooker giving it 3 whistles. In
the mean while boil the tamarind in little water and remove the juice from the tamarind.
Strain the tamarind juice and it that mix the jaggery. In a cooking vessel pour
some oil and let it get heated. In that add jeera and mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Sauté the garlic and curry leaves. Pour the cooked dal in the tadka. Now add
the tamarind and jaggery water juice. Adjust the salt, red chilli powder and
dhaniya jeera powder as per taste. Garnish it with some corriander leaves.
