Tinda Rice

Rice is a favourite dish in every household. You can make a lot of varieties from rice like pulao or biryanis etc. Tinda rice is one of them. The masala paste and yogurt gives a very soft texture to the rice. Explaining the taste is difficult try it out and do tell how it is.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sliced Tinda
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/3 cup yogurt 
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 spoons wet coconut
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1 inch ginger piece
  • 1 spoon corriander seeds
  • 3 spoons corriander leaves
  • 2 pinches jeera
  • 2 garlic pods
  • 1/2 spoon garam masala
  • Turmeric
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Ghee
Process-> In a blender make a paste of coconut, green chillies, ginger, corriander seeds, corriander leaves, jeera and garlic. Heat oil in a pan toss the curry leaves and onions for 2-3 minutes. Add the masala paste and saute it for 4-5 minutes till the raw smells goes. Add tinda, yogurt, garam masala and salt to taste and cook it on a medium flame. Stir it for a couple of minutes till the tinda has cooked tender. Let the water evaporate from the tinda fry add the rice stir for a minute. Add 2 cups of water and cook the rice. Drizzle little ghee once the rice is cooked. Enjoy it with papad and pickle.
