Tomato Peanut Chutney

There are various kinds of chutneys wet or dry, hot or sweet, coarse or fine depending with what you are going to serve. For idli generally a semi liquid chutney goes well. The tomato peanut can be served with idli or dosa. The tangy taste of the tomato and sweetness of the sugar go hand in hand. And the red chilli powder gives it a spicy taste.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium tomato
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  • Red chilli powder
  • Salt
  • 1/2 spoon sugar
  • Jeera
  • Mustard seeds
  • Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Turmeric
  • Oil
Process->Boil the tomato in the microwave adding 1/2 cup water to it. The tomato should cook tender. Pulp the tomato in the blender in a fine puree in that add the peanuts and crush it. Add salt and sugar to the tomato peanut puree as per taste.  Add little water if necessary. Boil the tomato peanut puree. Take a small pan in that add 2 spoons oil in that add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves, hing, turmeric and red chilli powder. Quickly pour the tadka on the hot tomato puree and stir it. Serve this chutney with idli's or dosa.
